Work is a pictorial exploration of work done the world over, and the economic and social conditions necessitating that work into employment. A mechanic in Columbus, a cook in Pakistan, a Taxidermist in Seattle, an engineer in Boise; this project seeks to span borders, meditating on the idea that the more of the world we know, the smaller it becomes, and the more common ground there is discovered.
To get the pictures, I typically reach out to people asking if they would be willing to have their picture taken; If they say yes, I take them out for coffee or lunch, get to know more about them, what drives them, and why they do what they do. We then schedule a time during active business hours, and I photograph them while they are going about business as usual. Throughout the process, I am perpetually and humbled by the kindness and genorosity with which people open up their lives for me to photograph.
